I am a Haztec EMT for the NYC fire department. It became clear just about everyone we were interacting with had Corona virus. If you didn't accept that you would just scare yourself to death and become completely immobilized. And for the most part I'd say everybody just kind of accepted that this was happening, but that you had a job to do.
I initially thought it was just a head cold. And then my sense of smell went away and I realized that this might actually be Corona virus. At that point I was quarantined by the fire department. I had the worst chills and body aches and then just really rough fatigue, but I had a very mild run of it compared to other people.
I still have a lot of respiratory issues, not anything that's necessarily debilitating for me, but if I go for a run I definitely feel it in my lungs. I'm lucky that I'm young and in relatively good shape. I can rebuild my cardio strength, it'll take some time, but it's very doable for me.
The scariest part of it is I have no idea what the actual longterm effects are going to be 20 years from now. A lot of us are waiting to see if we are at the end of it or if we're in the eye of the storm.
