I am a senior technical director and I handle the technical side of producing a show, whether it be a corporate event, a gala, a music festival, a concert. I'm in charge of overseeing audio, lighting, video, labor, staging, scenic, engineering, power… all the different technical aspects that actually go into making the show happen.
My biggest fear is that the industry that I've spent my entire career in is going to evaporate and I've got to go do something else. I chose this career for a reason and it's what I'm passionate about. It's what I want to spend my life doing.
I love the people I work with. I love the teams that we build. I love the challenges that clients give us. I love the camaraderie. I love the late nights, the early mornings, the not sleeping. I love the stress. I love the adrenaline rush. There’s a reason I got into events and it wasn't to sit behind a computer building websites.
I can't wait till the next time I'm standing on a loading dock with a smelly dumpster next to me and stage stagehands asking when we're going to unload the next truck. You know, that's the kind of stuff I live for and that it could go away is kind of terrifying, but I think it's going to come back and it's going to come roaring back..
