I'm a teacher living in a very small town in the middle of Nebraska. I would say this is a serious Republican state. There is a good portion of our community who refuse to wear masks. I just socially distance from them. 30% to 40% of the people I know wear masks, especially the people who are medically compromised,
But then I have seen people who have major, major health issues who simply won't wear a mask because they honestly don't believe that this is a big deal.
I'm just sometimes stunned and amazed but we have a lot of rednecks. They’re good people, good hearted people who would do anything for you, but there's probably a shotgun in the back of their truck. They are stone Republicans. I mean to the core serious beer drinking rednecks.
But I have never had anything happen to me or my house that one of the neighbors has not helped me fix. I had a big old branch fall down and land in the middle of my yard, my neighbor and her husband got the chain saw out and got their truck and they just hauled it away. It was just gone. I was in the house goofing around. That's the kind of community I live in and that's why I don't leave.
