I am 52 years old. I own the Lexington Avenue Gym as well as Rock Steady boxing Westchester. Rock Steady is a boxing based program for folks that have Parkinson's disease. When I started the Rock Steady program I felt like this spoke to my brain, you know, it fed me. So I love it.
But the gym is not open because we've been shut down due to COVID. The way we've kept afloat is by doing virtual sessions. Our Rock Steady zoom classes can end up being 30 people but we had to file for bankruptcy.
So it's been rough, it has not been easy, but it's like, I don't know. I'm glad that we're able to do these zoom classes.
I feel really bad for so many people, I was on a zoom call with about 300 gym owners from everywhere and just listening to their stories was terrible. They cannot pay their rent so they literally going under…like their done, done.
I don't know how much longer I can keep doing this without actually opening the gym, but for now it's fine we’ll work it out somehow.
We’re not going to let Rock steady go.
