Once we had a plan in place to get married we sent everybody a Zoom link. We said, 3:00 PM, black tie optional. And funny enough, some people actually did dress up.
We were in Central Park and we put the laptop on the grass, we found a Boulder that we could stand on and we got married!
Once we were pronounced husband and wife, we hugged, we kissed, Sam threw her arms up in the air and we hear our family clapping. And then all of a sudden it dawns on us that everybody in the park around us was clapping too.
It was just like everybody, everybody going through this, this crisis, this quarantine together, everybody feeling in need of something sort of hopeful and loving and forward looking. And to see random strangers in 360 degrees clapping for us was incredible. In the middle of the pandemic. It was the coolest New York moment that either of us have ever experienced.
Then we decided to walk home and as we're walking down the street random strangers were clapping for us, including the Naked Cowboy, who I guess is an essential employee, because he was the only person in Times Square.
All of a sudden he starts strumming and we all start singing "Goin' to the chapel and we're gonna get married”.
